Before we get started with the post, you need to know that only female mosquitoes drink your blood. They don’t drink your blood for their own nutritional needs; instead, they do this to enable the development of eggs in their bodies. Now let’s get back to the original post.

Why do mosquitoes bite me so much? Is it true that mosquitoes get attracted to some people than others? In general, we know that all female mosquitoes identify you as their potential target to drink blood. They recognize their potential target via the carbon dioxide that the body produces. Mosquitoes have the maxillary palp organ that helps them do this task. Mosquitoes can detect you from approximately 40 meters away.

The answer – why do mosquitoes bite me so much

So the answer is, mosquitoes are more likely to target people who are in the middle of any workout session as the body tends to produce more carbon dioxide during this time. Larger and overweight individuals are more targeted by mosquitoes than slimmer or shorter ones. Another factor is that people exercising are more likely to be bitten by mosquitoes because of their body heat. During the workout session, your body produces more heat, and that’s the way mosquitoes notice you.

Pregnant women are also a favorite target of mosquitoes. Now you must be wondering why? Pregnant women exhale 21% more carbon dioxide than normal women would produce otherwise. The body temperature of pregnant women is slightly higher than non-pregnant ladies. This slight temperature is, particularly around the belly. There is another factor that potentially attracts mosquitoes, and that is color.
