I have to admit that when it comes to dogs, I like them big and scruffy. The idea of carrying my dog in a purse or bag just doesn’t sit right with me. However, after learning about some of the smallest dog breeds in the world, my opinion is starting to change. While I am not going to buy a purse to carry one of these heroes I am starting to see why they would be fantastic pets.
The toy poodle
Toy poodles are around 10 inches tall. This means they are just one big ball of fluff. They are a very particular animal and need to be groomed often to keep their coat in good condition and their nails trimmed. However, if you look after them they will live for nearly 20 years. This makes them a great companion for someone looking for a pet that will stick around for a while and won’t be too heavy.
Affenpinscher
For those that think small dogs are just too cute, check out the Affenpinscher. This is a dog that appears quite willing to go on adventures. That is not to say that the Affenpinscher is not cute, he is. Many call them monkey dogs or highlight how they resemble the Ewoks from Star Wars. These dogs are known to be kind and adventurous, the perfect companion.
The pug
Many think that the pug is just a dog that is currently hyped up by the internet, but that is not the case. The pug has been beloved for thousands of years. This breed has been in existence for over 2000 years and was once favored by ancient royal families of China. These weird-looking dogs will give you plenty of opportunities to smile if you own one.
All we are saying is don’t rule out small dogs just because they are small. Many have larger than life personalities. They can be ideal for small apartments or older dog-owners. It is certainly a better alternative than buying a cat.
